Feline infectious peritonitis treatment GS-441524

2023-09-19

Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a devastating and almost always fatal feline disease that results from mutations in the common feline coronavirus (FECV), which infects 40-80% of cats worldwide. GS-441524, also known as GS-5734, is a potent inhibitor of the feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) virus. GS-441524 has a strong inhibitory effect on feline infectious peritonitis (FChemicalbookIP) virus. GS-441524 is a molecular precursor of pharmacologically active nucleoside triphosphate molecule. These analogues can be used as alternative substrates and RNA strand terminators for viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. GS-441524 has a non-toxic concentration of up to 100 in feline cells, effectively inhibits FIPV replication of CRFK cell cultures and a concentration of peritoneal macrophages as low as 1 in naturally infected cats.

GS-441524 is a small molecule, riboside triphosphate competitive inhibitor, that has demonstrated strong antiviral activity against many RNA viruses. It can inhibit the replication of several different types of RNA viruses, such as zoonotic severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus, Middle East Respiratory syndrome virus, Ebola virus, Lassa fever virus, Junin virus, and respiratory syncytial virus, while having low cytotoxicity in a wide range of cell lines.

GS-441524 is the second targeted antiviral agent for the treatment of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) after GC376.

GS-441524 is a small molecule nucleotide analogue provided by GileadSciences(the world's NO.1 antiviral field) to UCDavis (the world's NO.1 veterinary medicine) PerdersenNCjiaoshou2 and its research theme. It is a reverse transcriptase inhibitor that can inhibit the replication of feline ventral virus (FIP) and is a prerequisite molecule for the synthesis of pharmacologically active nucleoside triphosphate.
